This has met our needs well and performs mostly as expected. Set up and installation was easy. This is the second one of these scanners we have purchased for scanning documents at our client’s location, and both machines have worked out well. The quality and clarity of scans is good and matches the quality of our professional high capacity Xerox machines back at the office.
If the Auto Document Feeder would accommodate documents with a width of 11 inches, the machine would be perfect.

I purchased this scanner in March 2017. It worked well as a scanner. I used it mainly to scan documents for a home business. The document feeder was a key feature for me and that worked well also, although occasionally a document would need some extra help to make sure a few pages get fed into feeder correctly before the software timed out. By the summer of 2018 scans started to show a black stripe about 1 inch wide on the left side. It didn’t matter whether I used the flat bed or the document feeder – the black stripe occurred with both. Cleaning the scanner did not help. HP was not helpful and it does not seem to be possible to get the scanner repaired. If it were under warranty then HP would replace it. I realize that it is out of warranty after 1 year, but considering it cost me $440 I think this is way too expensive to only last 15 months. I would have even been happy if HP offered to replace it at a discount for whatever price it costs HP to make it. I would not recommend this scanner to anyone and when I replace it in early 2019 when I have the money, I won’t be buying another HP.

Garbage, very disappointed, I bought HP printer which works fantastic but this scanner is completely disappointed me. Scan quality is good but the Crop function and free software are nearly useless and made errors consistently, Returned and exchange for EPSON instead.

By comparison the one we were replacing was huge and heavy. This costs less and is faster … go figure. The computer interface is a little clunkier but it works fine. It goes to sleep sometimes and I have to power it back on but it comes up fast so that is no big deal and maybe that will extend its life. We’ve only had it a few months but so far so good – we use it every day.
