Works as advertised but since it doesn’t require any special software you don’t need to buy the package with all the cyberlink software included since its old versions of the software. Best off getting the drive and purchase the latest cyberlink software if you need it.

Mine was missing the power cable & the blank discs were in sleeves not cases which resulted in them arriving scratched. I removed them first thing & put them in cases. The picture clearly shows them coming in jewel cases & either they should come in cases or the picture should be changed to show them in sleeves. Hopefully they’ll burn alright. Also, it will not play UHD Blu-rays even if you buy the right software & hardware like I did. I build PCs so I know. If you want this feature buy something else. If you don’t then this is a good value for a drive that can read 4 layer discs.

I’ve owned a lot of computers with optical drives and consequently I’ve replaced quite a few, without a doubt this LG drive is the biggest piece of Junk I’ve ever owned! Once in a blue moon it will actually read a disc but usually not! Bought it to install in an OWC external drive case…looks great! I guess it’ll make a fine paper weight?

I only bought this to watch blu-ray movies on my PC, i really could care less about being able to burn my own blu-ray discs or DVD’s but i suppose it’s useful having the option later if i need it. As other reviewers have stated, you don’t get anything other then the wires, screws, the drive and some burnable discs. I had hoped it would come with the software necessary to play blu-rays on it’s own since i remember reading an answered question it claimed it didn’t but i think i got mine for 50ish bucks so i’m not really surprised at all that it doesn’t . It functions but it isn’t really amazing at anything, it’s quiet i guess which is amazing compared to how disc drives worked back in the 90s but that hasn’t been much of an issue in years in any event. Would much rather buy versions which didn’t include any discs to start with to get the drive at a cheaper price, i’m used to buying discs separately anyways.
