Yes a new storage but why an ssd you may ask as usual let me answer a few FAQS first
1 What is a ssd ?
ANS A ssd or solid state drive is a storage device like a harddisk but the spinning disks are replaced by memory modules and is a lot faster and more reliable than even the modern harddisks
2 How fast are they
ANS SSDs are amazingly fast in this products case it is an SATA ssd so it is limited to 600mpbs in a SATA 3 port and 150mpbs in SATA 2. That is just for SATA ssd but for NVME drives it is a whole another story
3 NVME What is that
ANS NVME or non volatile memory express is a host controller interface by which an m.2 ssd is connected to a ×4 pcie slot and these four lanes are connected directly to the cpu giving you blazing fast read and writes
4 What is TCL
ANS SLC – single level cell 1 bit per cell
MLC -multi level cell 2 bits per cell
TLC – triple level cell 3 bits per cell
Now about the product product it is manufactured on 12nm San disk memory chips

CONS
TLC can store three bits per cell for greater data density and more capacious SSDs in the same form factor but its sustained write performance is comparatively poor to SLC and MLC based drives
It is a wonderful product and I will recommend it to all my friends but not all of us can afford a ssd for our computers if you have tight budget but still need faster than harddisk performance I suggest you take a look at SSHD or Solid State Hybrid Drive it is not as fast but relatively cheap
PS : It is an electrostatic sensitive device please GROUND YOURSELF BEFORE HANDLING the product to discharge any esd

I bought this to upgrade my laptop HDD and was well worth it. My HP Pavilion laptop had become extremely slow, and I found the HDD was taking 100% utilization and CrystalDiskmark result was like 60 MBps only. After swapping the internal disk with this new one, the measured throughput was shown as 560 read/ 500 write which is exactly as per WD spec, which is very impressive (more practical result falls short of manufacturer spec). Also the laptop became lightning fast, bootup time reduced to a few seconds, and apps load almost instantly even with 4 GB RAM. I think its worth the extra few bucks to buy a WD Blue instead of WD green as it has some essential extras to give maximum speed, within the limits of SATA interface !

No issues non soever. Much better than than standard HDD. Boot time has reduced, R/W capacity has increased. Unfortunately i have been using using it with SATA SSD type 2 and cannot utilize its full capabilities, but overall everything is much smoother.

Lego en tiempo y forma, y en buenas condiciones, lo instale inmediatamente y vaya que windows 10 carga muy rapido, con este ssd ya revivi mi laptop que tiene mas de 10 años, y mejoro muchisimo. Le aplique tres particiones una para el Windows10 (400GB), otra para DATOS (1TB) y la ultima para respaldos (400GB).

I wanted to add a second SSD to my system as my original Samsung SSD is almost 10 years old. Black Friday sealed the deal. As my home build only had two bays and they were both in use, I bought the Corsair Dual SSD Mounting Bracket which allowed me to put the old SSD and new SSD in the same bay (they stack on top of each other). I also planned to clone the new drive as a boot drive. When I ran the Arconis program (that you download off the WD website) and waited two hours I got a warning from Windows (when I tried to boot) that the new drive was corrupted when I tried to boot from it. I made two attempts. It just wouldn’t work. A YouTuber had recommended the trial version of Macrium Reflect cloning software. I downloaded that and followed along on the provided video on their website. Super easy. I did have to go into the BIOS to change the boot order as I left the Samsung in place as a backup drive. Overall the WD drive works perfect but I recommend using Macrium to clone the drive.

Works excellent. Fast and reliable as a daily SSD in a computer at home for a few years. I do not use it for gaming but that doesn’t matter. A good SSD.

Got the SSD. Took me a few days to get a HDD holder to try to clone this drive. SSD was not being recognized by PC when connected to the HDD holder. Needed to isolate the problem. So took out the original HDD from my laptop and tested with the HDD holder – and it was being recognized! So the problem is with the SSD – but not able to return it now because there is no option to return it!!!!!!!!! Help !!!!!!!!!!
Amazon told me that manufacturer would be able to help. Called WD and they did an RMA process for me since there is a 3 yr warranty on the SSD. Had to drop off the bad drive at their local center – they tested and confirmed it was bad. A replacement will be mailed to me in a week or so – but it will be a refurbished drive and not a new one!!!!!!!!!!!!
Hoping that the replacement comes in working condition.
A bitter experience overall – paying retail price to finally get a used drive!!! Thanks Amazon! – for tossing me over to the manufacturer.
Update (20 Nov 18)
WD sent me a replacement, which looks like a new drive (not refurbished, as I was told by their support team). I cloned my HDD and installed it. laptop working much faster now. I am upgrading the review to a 4 star from a 1 star because of my experience dealing with WD. Despite the early pain, the whole WD replacement experience was rather smooth – I want to show my appreciation for this.

I made a feature film this year and I wanted to isolate all my project files for DaVinci resolve to access in a separate hard drive. This hard drive is pretty much what you’d expect from an SSD drive. It’s easy to install, fast and hasn’t caused me any trouble so far.
Just One hitch though: This drive has a sister drive installed in my computer – the WD Green 240GB. I used the WD Dashboard app to update the WD Green’s firmware and within 2 hours, that WD Green drive crashed and crashed so bad that if I didn’t unplug the SATA cable from the WD green, my computer won’t even boot up. They got my drive replaced because it was within warranty, but I lost all my data in that drive. So I’m not even touching the firmware update button for this drive and I’d recommend the same. Even without the firmware update, your drive will be just great so don’t ever do that if you love your data.

Bought this to replace an old HDD that was starting to fail on my workhorse/gaming PC. Before the upgrade, it took about 10-15 minutes to boot up the OS (Windows 10, in case that matters to anyone). Now it’s easily less than a minute. All the other functions are similarly quicker, too, and this drive has singlehandedly taken my PC from “destined-for-the-landfill” to “I could use this thing for years!”
Of course, in reality I suspect that’s just what one should expect when upgrading from an aged and failing HDD to an SSD, but it’s still a night-and-day difference, and I have no regrets.
