I installed this product to speed up my computer, and it definitely delivered on that front. However, I did notice that when loading certain programs like games or Photoshop, the mouse cursor lags for a few seconds before returning to normal. I’m not exactly sure what’s causing this issue, but it’s not a dealbreaker for me.

Overall, I’m happy with the product and would give it 4 stars.

The SP SSD offers a significant performance boost compared to traditional hard drives. The 3D NAND technology ensures efficient data storage and retrieval, resulting in faster boot times, application launches, and overall system responsiveness. The drive’s read and write speeds are notably improved, making it a suitable upgrade for those looking to breathe new life into an older computer or enhance the performance of a newer one.

The inclusion of an SLC (Single-Level Cell) cache is a noteworthy feature. SLC caching technology optimizes the drive’s performance by temporarily storing frequently accessed data in a high-speed cache. This means that everyday tasks and applications benefit from accelerated speeds, even when dealing with larger files or multitasking.

This SSD is designed with broad compatibility in mind. Its 2.5-inch form factor and 7mm (0.28-inch) thickness make it suitable for most laptops and desktop computers. Additionally, its SATA III interface ensures compatibility with a wide range of devices, including older systems that may not support newer NVMe drives.

Solid-state drives are known for their durability, and the SP 1TB SSD is no exception. With no moving parts, it’s less susceptible to physical damage caused by shocks or vibrations. It’s also engineered to be energy-efficient, which not only extends the life of the drive but also helps conserve power in laptops for longer battery life.

In terms of value for money, this SSD offers an excellent balance of price and performance. It’s a cost-effective way to upgrade your computer’s storage and enjoy the benefits of a solid-state drive without breaking the bank.

In conclusion, the SP SSD with 3D NAND, SLC Cache, and SATA III connectivity is a reliable and efficient storage solution. It provides a noticeable performance boost over traditional hard drives, making it a worthwhile upgrade for anyone seeking to enhance their computer’s speed and responsiveness. Its compatibility with a wide range of devices and its cost-effectiveness make it a compelling choice for both casual users and enthusiasts.

If you’re in the market for a dependable and affordable solid-state drive that can breathe new life into your computer, the SP SSD is a worthy investment that combines speed, reliability, and value for money.

Bought this SSD with hope to revive my 2012 era Acer laptop, i also used a Lapcare Caddy with it

AANNDD THIS SSD LITERALLY DESTROYED MY LAPTOP BY RUINING ITS POWER SUPPLY COMPONENTS!

Installation was barely 2 mins, and it may have worked for 5 hours maxx then all sudden my laptop crashed and when i pressed power button it would show power LED and Caps Lock LED turned on rest thing just dead; and when i took it to repair shop the guy said it must have fried up power components like capacitors and MOSFET inside judging from LEDs, and that experienced guy turned out to be correct and repairing itself costed me good 800 rs (around price of 128 gb SSDs nowadays on amazon huuh) for replacing all tiny fried up components; The SSD itself is working fine as confirmed by putting it in repairman’s spare pc

I am now afraid to put this in any other PC or Laptop after this first day experience of ruining my old laptop, sure it was already an ancient machine by now and other things like aging or temperature (hot summers right now) could also have contributed in it but i still believe it was SSD that did so as in past I’ve replaced fans, RAMs, USB ports and other minor things and it never destroy my laptop this way, even after harsh use so it’s definitely this SSD’s doing

My personal advise is to check with your trusted repairsman and ask him to check if your old machine would be able to tolerate this SSD before considering buying it

I would have provided 4 stars had it not messed with my laptop; but based on my limited five some hours of usage,
This isn’t fastest SSD out there as it lacks DRAM but it does work fast enough for average use – not for you gamer folks better get something with DRAM and better Cache etc

Worst thing is seller or Amazon aren’t providing return option for this (or many other SSDs in similar price range) SSD and I’m just at loss of 1200 some rupees plus repairs cost in just one day of usage

Positive if you could get warranty as SP provides online product registration for warranty and related purposes, on this SSD it is 3 years but lol best of luck getting in contact with actual warranty provider

Overall very bitter experience. Seller or Amazon should provide full payment return for this.

Fixed it on my 12 year old MacBook Pro. It was very easy to install. The weight of my system has reduced, but not significantly. Remember, this is a Pro and it’s 12 year old, and while there’re no vacuum tubes used, still it’s a heavy system.
The most significant thing to notice is the reduced energy consumption by the system. The consistent loud noise of cooling fan is a thing of past. I hear some sound only at the time of booting the system.
It’s been only a few months, till now satisfied about the product. Value-for-money, up till now.

Silicon Power is a tier 2 brand from Taiwan.
    1. I purchased this SSD to use it as an external Ventoy bootable drive for booting iso files from it.
    2. Good drive. Speed is as advertised.
    3. Ventoy and bootable iso files work fine and both Windows & Linux OS & other recovery software boots up speedily from this external drive.
    4. TBW (total terabytes written before drive goes bad) for this drive is good at this price range i.e 250 TBW.
    5. The drive is made of metal and good quality plastic and feels sturdy but is still lightweight.

Crucial drives are also of the same price range and Crucial’s quality is also good but TBW is significantly less for BX500 for 512 GB drive i.e 120 TBW. Even Crucial MX500 at a higher price range gives 180 TBW for 512 GB drive.

    Recommended purchase.

Silicon Power is a good SSD no matter what some of the other comments here say. Its not the same say as Samsung but its close enough in terms of quality and speed, the two most important factors when deciding on a SSD. Hey if you really wanted a Samsung then you should go out, pay the fancy price and buy it. Yes I agree that Samsung reliability would be 100% but this ain’t too bad either. I already own a Samsung SSD drive and wanted something budget friendly this time. Their Velox series is more for people who are exploring SSD’s for the first time. This model Ace A55 is budget friendly mid range SSD which is good for laptops. The best part is that it is smaller in thickness and hence really low on weight. But it may lead to heating in the future as the thicker ones usually have better chip design and cooling built into them. I will know this summer. If installing in a laptop it will make a difference even if you already have other SSD’s installed like the M.2 PCIe Gen 3 and have replaced your laptop DVD writer also with an Samsung SSD drive like me. Coming to the speed, a user here has already written an important and very helpful comment, you need to align the SSD partitions and sectors correctly if you want it to perform especially when cloning your old HDD and Windows partitions to it. I suggest the same thing and recommend using Mini Tool Partition to align the partitions to 1MB by default. I didn’t need to do all this as its not the primary SSD in my laptop and not going to be the last one either but yes for my primary SSD I did need to. Where this SSD really boosts up speed is on a Macbook. Trust me when I say this but booting up MacOS using a SSD is going to feel supersonic as compared to booting up a HP Pavillion Windows 10. But yes die hard Windows fans a SSD is going to improve your loading and waiting times immensely. Its damn irritating waiting for all the tray icons to load even if you have 16 GB of RAM. For the geeks out there plenty of tests are available to check out the speed of this SSD and I think Silicon Power does not do too poorly in most of them for a mid range SSD. You can also download their ToolBox to test your drives health from time to time. They even provide a licensed cloning software if you dont have Acronis or Mini Tool. As with all my reviews I must post a little caveat, most low to medium priced SSD’s including this one require some amount of system RAM to function correctly. So if you buy a SSD like this one 512 GB then be prepared to sacrifice at least 1 GB of RAM to the SSD for its caching tasks etc. That can make a difference on an old 4 GB RAM system especially if you share RAM with the inbuilt Graphics card as well. Therefore first upgrade the RAM on your old PC or laptop and then buy a SSD especially if you intend to use it for high processing power work later and really breathe life into your old system. On older systems a SSD does make a difference but where it really shines would be on a system with adequate processing power and RAM. Also please note 512 GB does not mean it will effectively show up as 512 GB for use on a Windows laptop. Its the way to do with the way the file system reports the effective space on Microsoft based systems when formatted for Windows use. On a Mac it will show up correctly as 512 GB as they have changed their operating system to report the space/size correctly. But its there on both systems as the effective size provided by the manufacturer SP has not gone anywhere. All in all go for this SSD if you want to bump your old Desktop or laptop by a notch when working or gaming by spending a little. If you want to know specifics suggest you visit the manufacturers website and look for Ace A55 which is the model number for this SSD. Its the starting model in their Ace series. For those looking to buy something more pocket friendly I suggest getting this. I am not going to explain 3D NAND etc as it does not matter to most users here but lets just say this does the job in the price you paid.

Originally intended this for use as a cloned replacement drive for a HDD. Upgraded to a 1TB instead. This drive was then put in an external case and used as an external drive. Very fast, very capable, high quality.

I review things as value for money and I’m extremely happy with these for the price,.They’re a better deal all the time. Every time I look at the listings the prices have dropped.

These are budget ssds. They lack something called DRAM. DRAM, for those who glaze over when people like me start talking in alphabet soup, is cache. On faster drives with DRAM, cache speeds up reading and writing. Writing takes a bit of a hit without it. That’s the major difference between a drive like this and more expensive drives. You will be quite happy with one of these if you just want to speed up an old computer or laptop. If speed is a concern, Samsung are about the best and Crucial MX 500 are pretty good too and less expensive than Samsung. Iboth of those drives have DRAM. I have several of these Silicon Power drives in sizes from 120 GB to 1 TB. The 120 GB drives have been around for several years and are still just fine.

I have most of mine in cases and use them as portable drives. Orico makes plastic tooless cases. They’re cheap and work well. I use them with my Raspberry Pi’ s, to move files around and to store music and movies. I keep picking up more because they are cheaper and faster than flash drives.
