Bought the Logitech G300s in mid-2016, it’s been 6 years using the same unit – most buttons (6 out of 9) have now started double-clicking, thereby rendering it close to its ‘End-Of-Life’. My G300s has been in ‘daily low-to-moderate’ – mostly for work and some light gaming (no button mashing involved).

In an era of planned obsolescence, there are few devices that stand out. This is one of those rare durable ones (or maybe I’m just plain lucky this piece lasted so long for me!).
Other reviewers have mentioned Pros & Cons better than me so I’ll just stick to my experience instead of repeating their points ad nauseum.

    — Middle Button Roller works perfectly fine even today.
    — Mouse Cable felt plasticky and delicate at first, but has held up well for 6 years without any degradation of the insulating material around the wire.
    — Rubber quality on the side is good overall – for 2-3 years of daily use; after that point the grooves start disappearing and become smooth instead of providing friction to your thumb and little finger.
    — The mouse is great for ambidextrous use and ergonomic especially for claw grip holders. Palm grip can get slightly uncomfortable (for the little finger) especially when using the top reprogrammable buttons above Left Mouse Button (LMB) and Right Mouse Button (RMB).

Coming to the primary Left Mouse (LMB) & Right mouse buttons (RMB), the LMB & RMB started no/double-clicking (the problem where mechanical switches start wearing out and a single-click by user either doesn’t register or gets registered as double-click) approx. 2 years (mid-2018) since purchase, so the criticism by other users about ‘double-clicking’ LMB and RMB is valid. However, as I rarely used the remaining buttons, hence I could re-map 2 of the programmable G-Keys to LMB & RMB using Logitech Software easily. To avoid constantly launching bloatware ‘Logitech Gaming Software’, I simply saved the G-Key mappings to the mouse’s memory once using that software and never had to launch it again.

Those additional re-programmable buttons increased its effective lifespan by an additional 4 years up to today – at the cost of losing additional programmable functions – perfectly fine considering the VFM price.

[Edit 2020 October] Unfortunately, the left click has developed a double-click issue. 3.5 years isn’t a bad lifespan though. I will update on whether the double-click issue can be resolved by cleaning the switch.

[Edit 2020 August] It has now been over 3 years and it’s still going strong! Wouldn’t take any other mouse over this one. I don’t have the USB issue anymore on a new computer (probably was an issue with my USB port). I would recommend it to all my friends except the fact that you would need pretty small hands to feel comfortable with it.

[Original review] At the time of this review, I’ve been using this mouse for 16 months.

It’s really the perfect mouse for me. I play a variety of games casually and the number of buttons is just right since I don’t use too many to begin with. The button layouts are pretty good, except sometimes I’ll hit the DPI adjusting ones but it’s easy to just reverse that. The cord is a good length, not too long and not too short. The mouse itself is very responsive and I’ve never had any issues with it.

As many other comments said, this mouse is quite small in size. That is not an issue for me because I personally have very small hands (child size) that measure 5.5 inches (wrist to top of middle finger). I think if you have large hands, this mouse might not be so comfortable for you.

Recently, I’ve found that the USB connector itself has been a little finicky. Sometimes if I bump the USB a little bit I’ll hear it disconnect, and it can’t be 100% plugged in for it to work, only 95% plugged in. I don’t find this to be an issue though.

Would recommend this mouse. If this mouse dies on me (which I don’t expect it to), I’ll definitely be getting another one of the same.

I got this gaming mouse back in Berlin, Germany in 2012. I just bought my second one as a replacement because the previous one was double clicking (probably grime got its way after 11 years of heavy use)
It was such a good choice for me at the time, a well built, ergonomic, stylish, performance mouse.
I use it for everything from gaming to editing software (Premiere, Photoshop, etc).
I am a photographer which means half of my job is spent on the computer and the key features on this mouse are extremely useful.

While mostly a “gaming” feature, the ability to switch the mouse speed/sensitivity on the fly with a button and being able to customize and save different speed settings, come quite handy in photography and post production.
Whenever Im editing photography and need to focus on specific details or need precision for strokes, I can tune the speed of the mouse for better control.
The material and build of the mouse its durable. My first one lasted 11 years and took many accidental falls.
If you also happen to be a gamer, the 4 extra keys you get (2 on each side) gives you the option to essentially have a complete controller in your shooting hand. I would buy it again in another 11 years if they still make em!

    Pros:
+it looks nice; its appearance suggests it is unaggresive and yet purposeful
+probably great for primary/middle school age
+probably good for the ladies in the office
    +quick, accurate and responsive
+it had enough buttons for my use case
+logitech kept it simple with how the mouse works by default. There are 3 arrangements, indicated by led color and swapped by the dedicated button. You don’t need a manual to figure it out. The default buttons are browser-forward & browser-back (or dpi-up & dpi-down), pgup & pgdown (or ctrl & alt), and closewindow (or ch-dpi).
+there is some wiki documentation for making it work in linux
    Cons:
-not quick to use: read on…
-too small to rest my hand on, too large to move with only fingertips. For me, this mouse is claw-grip or nothing.
-no linux tool that handles the mouse’s capability to change button profiles saved in the mouse’s memory. If you make a mistake in configuration, you can only reset things by replugging the mouse.
-there isn’t a consistent grip for hitting all the buttons and moving the pointer at the same time. I find myself switching my grip based on whether i’m hitting the corner buttons vs. when I’m just scrolling, pointing and clicking.
-the scroll wheel is small, untextured and doesn’t flick easily. It needs some pressure applied to make a rotation happen. Using this mouse’s wheel is slower and less consistent than on other gaming mice, or even on cheaper mice, I find.
…In fact I just bought a mouse as a gift for someone else that has a better scroll wheel, it was a Natec V55 wireless at about the same price.
Overall, this Logitech G300s is a mouse that only certain people will like. It suits my purposes, as an inexpensive backup mouse. Nearly any other mouse with typical back/forward buttons will be more comfortable to use for gaming than this one. If you have tough, large man-hands, you will not feel comfortable using this. If you have average sized hands, then: this mouse can be comfortable after a while of using it, however still, you can easily lose the position of your grip. It is smooth all around the surface, maybe too smooth?
So, if you need a comfortable left-handed mouse, buy a left-handed mouse and not this one. This mouse is made for the compromisers because it is ambidextrous, yet also comfortable for nobody. You can use it for your office work, MMO games or RTS games, but then there are much better options on the market for the same price.

It’s a really cool mouse, easy to use and programm 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻
I like that you can set different colours for different dpi modes + main click, that way I know which one I’m on at a time. It’s light and a good shape too
